Group Drawing Projects

Today, we had the opportunity to work in a small group to design, draw, and colour a scenic picture of our choice.  First, we had to sit with our group and decide together what our picture would be.  Then, we worked together, using pencils and stencils, to draw our amazing scenes.  When we were finished drawing, we had another team decision to make.

We had to decide what we were going to use to colour our pictures with. We could choice either "skinny" crayons, "fat" crayons, or oil pastels.  Of course, we ALL picked oil pastels!  We had so much fun working in our groups, and we even learnt that we could use a tissue to blend the oil pastels together!

Class Visitors

This week, we have been so lucky to have amazing visitors in our class!  On Tuesday, we had two fabulous Year 8 ladies spend the day with us! We had so much fun spending the day with Jazelle and Javana!
Jemma, Peni, Tipi, and Bryston were working very hard to learn their reading words.

Jazelle and Javana participated in our Soccer lesson, too!
On Wednesday, we had some special friends from Class 20 come and colour with us after lunch.  We all read our books together before we went home!

Terrific Thursday!

Today, we started out with our Star Student, Kharizma, reading her very own book to our class.  She did a fantastic job, and we loved how she showed us the pictures on each page!

We were even very lucky to have two of our school's ambassadors spend the day with us!  We really enjoyed having Jordan and Aaron in our room!  They helped us finish our writing, played math games with us, and they helped us with our reading!  We even spent some time showing them our Maori songs, and they showed us the motions to one of our special school haka songs, Powhiri Mai. Thanks for being so wonderful Jordan and Aaron!  We hope you come back to help us learn again soon!

Bryston enjoyed reading his book to Aaron.

Leah and Persia are helping Jemma with her new book.

Exodus S. is doing a great job reading a special book that he picked out all by himself!

Check us out learning the motions to Powhiri Mai!

Elephant Story

Class 24 is learning how to be amazing story writers!  We worked hard all week long on our "Elephant Story."  First, we talked with our partners about the elephant we saw during our team trip to the zoo.  Then, we shared our thoughts with the class and we turned our ideas into sentences.  Mrs. Moala helped us learn how to recite our story, and we worked hard all week learning how to read it to our class.  We also wrote our story, and drew some pictures in our new Kiwi Writing Books!

Jemma has amazing details added to her picture.
Kauri made sure to show a wall in his picture and check out the water the elephant is spraying!
We have also been working hard to learn motions to help us read and remember our story.

What a fun Friday!

Class 24 had an amazing Friday!  At the school assembly, Exodus and Bryston were welcomed to Pt. England School by Mr. Burt, and they received their cool Duffy School Packs!
Jemma received our special Duffy "Caught Being Good" Award for her amazing effort when writing and illustrating her elephant story.

After the Assembly, we got to play outside with the Get, Set, Go! coaches from Auckland Sport!  We had a great time learning how to balance, and playing the fun Flies and Frogs, and Pirate Ship games.

Check us out trying to balance without using our hands
or our feet!  Can you think of another way to balance
without using your hands or feet?
