Pirate Animation

 During term 2, we were learning about Computational Thinking and in our literacy class we were learning about pirates. We discovered that pirates had to do a lot of computational thinking (without computers!) in order to create and follow their treasure maps. Check out this collaborative Google Slides animation we made as a literacy class reciting the poem "Pirates" by Pauline Cartwright.

SAND ART SUMMARY !

Today in literacy we watched a sand artist tell a story
on a light board, first he drew an eye after that he
drew a woman on her/his undereye and a male below
her/his upper eye. After that he used the sand to
make it look like it was raining. He then drew a maori
carving or face. He also drew a person in the corner
with sand. After he drew a picture that looked like
one tree hill or a mountain .

A Work of Art

A part of Te Taiao o Tamaki our reading were reading a play called a work of art in the play some students found piles of rubbish at the park and diced to pick it up and put it in the bins unflinchingly the piles of rubbish were actually a piece of instillation art to remind people of what being a guardian of there community  just like we are learning about kaitiakitanga i nga wa katoua this year as a school we are the guardian of our environment next we read a new articular artist in  about artist in Auckland who had there installation art removed because someone thought that it was a pile of rubbish constructed by the homeless for shelter. 

Looking at all our new Chromebook boxes we decided to make our own instillation art we had so much fun working together to create our very own sky tower using the Chromebook boxes.

i learnt about birds about piwakawaka kereru and karearea. Then i learnt about how they move piwakawak turns quickly when they fly we also call them fantails. i also learnt about karearea they also fly fast as a car.    

Can We Blog Before School?

Check out these amazing year 4 girls, who came into the classroom this early this morning begging to get their "blog on"!  These girls are each reading a special novel (chapter book) from a collection that Mrs. Moala has put together and they are part of a select group of students who will be blogging at the end of each chapter.

Terrific Thursday!

Today, we started out with our Star Student, Kharizma, reading her very own book to our class.  She did a fantastic job, and we loved how she showed us the pictures on each page!

We were even very lucky to have two of our school's ambassadors spend the day with us!  We really enjoyed having Jordan and Aaron in our room!  They helped us finish our writing, played math games with us, and they helped us with our reading!  We even spent some time showing them our Maori songs, and they showed us the motions to one of our special school haka songs, Powhiri Mai. Thanks for being so wonderful Jordan and Aaron!  We hope you come back to help us learn again soon!

Special Story Time

Today we had a very special story time!  Keyana was our "Star" Student today, and instead of selecting a book for Mrs. Moala to read us this morning, she chose to read her reading book to the class all by herself!  She did a great job, and we are so excited to have other students read to us in the future!

Reading Celebration!

Class 24 is so excited to celebrate the reading of Leah, Teingoa, and Israel this week!  All three of these students love reading their books, and are always eager to get a new story to read.  They have also been working very hard to learn the words on their reading lists. Great job guys!  We are so proud of you!

Special Presents

This year our school was once again blessed to receive Duffy "Books In Homes" books for each of our students.  Class 24 was so excited when Mrs. Moala told them that they were getting special presents to take home!  They were even more excited when they found out that they each were getting their very own book to keep at home.  Once they were given their books, they happily found a quiet place around our room to sit and read.

This year, our books were purchased with funds from the New Zealand Government.  We think that is so cool and Class 24 has a special message for all the members of Government that made this happen for our amazing Pt. Englanders.

Our First "Reading Celebration"

This week we are celebrating with Exodus T., Exodus S., Kauri, Keyana, and Persia for their excellent effort in reading!  They work very hard reading their books at home every night, and practicing their word list.  If you are at Pt. England, they love reading their stories to friends who stop by before school everyday!
