Art Attack! Day 1

This term the students at Pt. England are working under the theme "Art Attack" and Class 24 (Team 1) is going to be exploring the question, "What does the river really look like?"

To kick start our very own Art Attack Class 24 spent some time today thinking about the Pt. England Reserve and the river that runs alongside our community.  Students made mental pictures before sharing what they remembered with the class.  They were then asked to do a pencil drawing of the river.

Bryston and Leah were sharing their work with each other while Teingoa remained focused on his drawing.

Kharizma and Keyana were working hard on their drawings!

Cherish put forth excellent effort in her beach drawing.
Kauri and Israel were trying their best to recreate the river in their drawings.

Terrific Thursday!

Today, we started out with our Star Student, Kharizma, reading her very own book to our class.  She did a fantastic job, and we loved how she showed us the pictures on each page!

We were even very lucky to have two of our school's ambassadors spend the day with us!  We really enjoyed having Jordan and Aaron in our room!  They helped us finish our writing, played math games with us, and they helped us with our reading!  We even spent some time showing them our Maori songs, and they showed us the motions to one of our special school haka songs, Powhiri Mai. Thanks for being so wonderful Jordan and Aaron!  We hope you come back to help us learn again soon!

Bryston enjoyed reading his book to Aaron.

Leah and Persia are helping Jemma with her new book.

Exodus S. is doing a great job reading a special book that he picked out all by himself!

Check us out learning the motions to Powhiri Mai!

Reading Celebration!

Class 24 is so excited to celebrate the reading of Leah, Teingoa, and Israel this week!  All three of these students love reading their books, and are always eager to get a new story to read.  They have also been working very hard to learn the words on their reading lists. Great job guys!  We are so proud of you!

Friends and Fun

Class 24 works so hard learning new things everyday!  However, we still have time to build relationships and have lots of fun when we play with our friends!
Siu, Teingoa, and Keyana worked together to make this amazing structure.
Did you notice that you could crawl under it?

Leah and Persia are enjoying some quiet time colouring in their unicorn pictures.

Bryston made this amazing truck all by himself!

Exodus T. and Israel are all smiles playing our new favourite maths app "Slide"

We've had lots of rainy days this week, so here we are watching a fun cartoon during lunch.

Marvelous Maths!

Class 24 has been working very hard to read, write and count our numbers from 0-20.  Check out all the different ways we are learning in Class 24!

Sauma and Amelia put the numbers 1-20 in order and then counted out the correct number of sticks for each number.  They even sorted the sticks by colour while counting!

Leah worked very hard to put the numbers 1-10 in order using our new puzzle.

Israel and Bryston were working hard to match the number with the right number of objects.

Persia and Kharizma are such clever girls!  While colouring their maths pages, they decided to sort their crayons by colour!

Peni is working hard learning to write double digit numbers.

Keep up the good work Class 24!  Mrs. Moala is so proud of you!

Amazing KidPix Artists!

Class 24 has been working hard to become the best KidPix artists they can be!  Every Friday afternoon Mrs. Festler comes in to give lessons to small groups, and the students work hard during the week to produce amazing pictures.

Keyana just started school this week, and she is learning to use the paint can to fill in the different shapes Mrs. Festler helped her draw.

Israel and Amelia worked hard to illustrate the story that the students of Class 24 wrote earlier in the week.  They made sure his giraffe had brown spots, four legs and a smiley face.  Then, they added a tail to help keep the flies away!  Can you see the BIG flies in their pictures?
