Each year Manaiakalani (our cluster of schools) holds an annual Film Festival at Hoyt's Cinema in Sylvia Park Shopping Centre. Each class submits a 3 minute movie, and has the opportunity to attend a viewing session with other students from their school. We even have a night viewing for family and friends to come and see a select number of movies from across the cluster.
This year, the students of Room 6 Maths put together a movie entitled "The Hunt for the Manaiakalani People." We had a lot of fun filming at our neighbouring Pt. England Reserve/Beach and farm. We were even able to catch a few drone shots flying over our amazing area.
We hope you enjoy our movie!

PES Olympics
Today was the day! After being postponed a number of times last term, we finally had a perfectly beautiful day for our School Olympics! Here are a few pictures that were taken of our fun today!
Our morning started with the school gathering in our country teams before getting instructions.
Check out the first rotation sky walkers!
Mr. Burt had a crazy idea to make the Olympic Rings and have our drone take a picture. Keep an eye on our blog to see the final product someday soon!

Coke Bottle Explosions
As part of our team Inquiry Immersion Day, students spent time in three different experiment situations. One of those experiments dealt with Diet Coke Bottles, Mentos and Dry Ice. The explosions from this experiment could be heard across the school!

Making Bouncy Balls
Today, the students of Team 4 had a Science Immersion Day, which was so much fun! Students were able to participate in three different experiment settings that explored various physical and chemical changes. One of the activities that students participated in was following a lab procedure to create a bouncy ball. Students completed a Scientific Method report during their experience.

Surprise Pizza Party Thank You!
Class 6 Maths enjoyed a special thank you from the video team that filmed Noah Samuels as part of a short series on the Spark/Manaiakalani Program featured in the NZ Herald this past term. It was a very exciting surprise and a fun way for our class to end Term 3!
Thank you Spark people for all you continue to do to support and love on our Pt. England (Manaiakalani) children!

TERM 3 PENN Movie
This term, we have been learning all about different things that have been happening behind the scenes of the Rio Olympics. Our animations have been based on one Olympic event, and we were challenged to include body movements while animating our athletes. Check out these three animations that were highlighted on our school news PENN.
