Term 3 PENN

This term, the students on Team 5 are working with two professors from Auckland University to learn about Genomics. So far, we have gained an understanding about what genomics is, discussed the scientific view of the Tree of Life and we have begun to explore the Fragile Web of Life.

We were very lucky on Monday of this week because our very own scientist, Dr. Thierry from Auckland University's Medical School, came in to visit each class and share some special living things that he recently found in a rock pool in the northern part of New Zealand.

For our PENN video this week, we decided to share a it of our fun with Dr Thierry and share a few things that we have discovered.

We hope you enjoy learning with us!

  4. Its amazing that the students get to see what they are studying in real life. Hands on learning and bringing real life examples to the classroom makes the students learning expand that much more.

  5. This video is awesome! It is great that the students were able to have hands on experience with these sea creatures. This kind of learning is much more impactful, not to mention that it's also just way more fun!
