Matariki Tree Planting

During our trip to Te Oro, for some Matariki fun, we were gifted a Manuka tree to plant somewhere on our school grounds. Mrs. Moala thought it would be a good idea to have a Team 3 planting ceremony to kick off our school Matariki Day celebration on the last day of Term 2.

So, after the school assembly the students from Team 3 gathered on the deck of the Whare Ako with Mr Jacobson and we heard from some of the Team 3 students all about the importance of the Manuka tree. We then sang our new favourite waiata "Purea Nei" while the tree was placed in the ground and covered by one student from each class.

Now, we can journey with this special tree and watch it grow as we continue our years at Pt England School. One day, we may even come back with our own children (or grandchildren!) and tell them all about our speical manuka tree and the planting ceremony we held.

Here is a pitcure of the students who spoke and planted the tree during the ceremony.
