Niue Language Week
Today marks the end of Niue Language Week and here at PES we were treated to an amazing cultural performance by our Niue Cultural group. We are so proud of these students for supporting their culture and for others who chose to learn about a culture other than their own.

Term 3 PENN
This term, the students on Team 5 are working with two professors from Auckland University to learn about Genomics. So far, we have gained an understanding about what genomics is, discussed the scientific view of the Tree of Life and we have begun to explore the Fragile Web of Life.
We were very lucky on Monday of this week because our very own scientist, Dr. Thierry from Auckland University's Medical School, came in to visit each class and share some special living things that he recently found in a rock pool in the northern part of New Zealand.
For our PENN video this week, we decided to share a it of our fun with Dr Thierry and share a few things that we have discovered.
We hope you enjoy learning with us!

Tamaki Tech: Blogger of the Week
Each week, the year 7 and 8 students at Pt England School head over to Tamaki College for their technology courses. The students rotate through four different courses over the year and they love learning something new from the high school teachers.
This week, John was in Robotics working to code his robot to do a series of actions. John persevered and was so excited to make it happen! He did such an amazing job that he was recognised by Mr Dunn and awarded Coder of the Week!
Well done John!

This term, the students of Team 5 have been exploring different countries around the world as we learnt about the locations of the seven continents. Welcoming ERO to Pt England
This term, we had the ERO team come into to assess our school and our lovely Team 5 students had the honour of welcoming the team to our school as part of our daily morning assembly.
As a team, we begin each day with all five classes meeting together in our Street (shared space) area. We begin with our version of a traditional Maori pōwhiri. Once the students recited our school karakia and one of our students shared their mihi, Mr. Burt brought the ERO team up to introduce themselves to the students.
It was great for the students to understand what the ERO team does and who was a part of our team this year since they would be around the school for the week. We are so excited to see what ERO has to say about our amazing school.
