Special Presents

This year our school was once again blessed to receive Duffy "Books In Homes" books for each of our students.  Class 24 was so excited when Mrs. Moala told them that they were getting special presents to take home!  They were even more excited when they found out that they each were getting their very own book to keep at home.  Once they were given their books, they happily found a quiet place around our room to sit and read.

This year, our books were purchased with funds from the New Zealand Government.  We think that is so cool and Class 24 has a special message for all the members of Government that made this happen for our amazing Pt. Englanders.

Our First "Reading Celebration"

This week we are celebrating with Exodus T., Exodus S., Kauri, Keyana, and Persia for their excellent effort in reading!  They work very hard reading their books at home every night, and practicing their word list.  If you are at Pt. England, they love reading their stories to friends who stop by before school everyday!

Weekly Writing

On Monday, Mrs. Moala read the story, "Echo the Dolphin" to Class 24.  Echo is a sweet dolphin who is always a good friend.  He and his friends always help each other get out of tough situations, and have great adventures together.

After reading the story, our class had a great discussion about what it means to be a good friend.  It was decided that since everyone in Class 24 are such great friends, we should write a story about it!

Persia, Leah, and Keyana did such an amazing job copying their story off the board!  They each made sure that they drew a beautiful picture to match the story that we had written showing their favourite way to play with their friends from Class 24.  The girls were able to show their amazing confidence and share their writing with Miss Wild and Class 21!  Miss Wild was so impressed she gave them each a special sticker to put in their writing book!

Leah drew a picture of her friends all playing together wearing their red Pt. England shirts.

Persia did a fabulous job drawing a picture of her friends playing outside of Class 24.

Keyana showed how she and her friends like to play at the school park.

Marvelous Maths!

Class 24 has been working very hard to read, write and count our numbers from 0-20.  Check out all the different ways we are learning in Class 24!

Sauma and Amelia put the numbers 1-20 in order and then counted out the correct number of sticks for each number.  They even sorted the sticks by colour while counting!

Leah worked very hard to put the numbers 1-10 in order using our new puzzle.

Israel and Bryston were working hard to match the number with the right number of objects.

Persia and Kharizma are such clever girls!  While colouring their maths pages, they decided to sort their crayons by colour!

Peni is working hard learning to write double digit numbers.

Keep up the good work Class 24!  Mrs. Moala is so proud of you!

Our Special Guests

Class 24 is so lucky to have amazing guest teachers come in to help us learn during the week!  Every Thursday, we have a special new friend come from Tamaki College to help us learn and her name is Rasil.  Rasil is helping us learn to write our names, and learn our numbers.  She also reads us a story every Thursday!  We love colouring with her, and playing with her during lunch playtime.

Our other special friend is our new Get Set Go teacher and her name is Coach Stephanie.  She comes to play with us every Friday after our school assembly, and she always teaches us new games to play.  We are currently learning how to aim and throw.  She taught us to point to our target with one hand, and raise our bean bag (or ball) up to our ear before we throw to hit the target.
Coach Steph giving us instructions for our next game.
We played a very fun game on Friday trying to "smash" down the cones when we threw our bean bag!
Sauma and Bryston doing a great job following Coach Steph's throwing instructions!
